Top of the line Sherline 2-1/2″ Adjustable Zero Hand Wheels.
These are the same Sherline hand wheels that we supply with our Taig and Sherline Power Feed systems.
Using the Adjustable Zero Feature
These Sherline adjustable zero hand wheels allow you to re-zero the hand wheel for more precise cutting operation. During your machining operation, at any time, you can simplify your calculations by resetting the hand wheel to “zero”. Gently hold the hand wheel in position with one hand while releasing the lock nut with the other. Rotate the red anodized, laser engraved collar until the “zero” setting is aligned with the scribed mark on your tool or thrust bearing collar. Then retighten the locking nut. Now you can crank in the exact amount of feed you want by reading the number directly off the handwheel.
The hand wheels have a 1/4″ shaft hole with set screw and can be used for applications other than on Sherline tools.
Phil’s Professional Tips
I recommend using the 2″ hand wheel for the “X” and “Y” axis, and the 2-1/2″ hand wheel for the “Z” axis on the mill. I believe this will give you more precise control for your machining needs.
